"Magical Pathways" - Rebuli Mzhavanadze's Audio Album [Our Project]

In 2026, at the initiative of "Folklore Georgia", an audio album by Gurian singer Rebuli Mzhavanadze was released, consisting of 24 songs.

Rebuli Mzhavanadze was born in 1945 in the city of Ozurgeti. Singing and music in general were an integral part of his childhood, everyone in the family sang. Famous performers of Georgian folk songs often gathered here. Such an environment determined Rebuli's special musical skills and interests. From an early age he played the accordion and piano; he studied French horn at the Tbilisi Decade of Talents and later at the Conservatory.

Since the late 1960s, Rebuli Mzhavanadze has led a pop ensemble in Guria, and in the 1970s, he had a jazz band in Anaseuli. Since 1987, he has worked as the regent of the choir of the Shemokmedi Monastery. In 2005, he founded the folklore ensemble “Vakhtanguri” at the Ozurgeti Cultural Center, which he led for several years.

The idea of recording Rebuli Mzhavanadze came to the head of the project, Sandro Natadze, several years ago. Initially, Sandro himself recorded more than 20 songs in a combined manner during his visits to Rau in Ozurgeti, and then he gave it a professional look and, with the help of sound director Ilia Jgharkava, began recording in the studio in December 2024. In these recordings, Rau Mzhavanadze performs all three voices of the songs with his characteristic distinctive handwriting and rare improvisation. In the two Krimanchuli songs included in the disc, he is partnered by the ensemble " Adilei ".
